In this issue, you get an insight from the French photographer Mathias Depardon into the documentation of sand mining in the Maldives. Also: For more than 15 years, Jeanne Taris has been photographing Gitans communities; Luis Casadevall shows the living realities of people in Cuba; the American photographer Craig Semetko takes a visual road trip through his homeland, and Walter Schels makes New York in the 1960s and 1970s newly experienceable.

In the technical section of this issue, we introduce the new Leitzphone, highlight the new Hektor lens range from Leitz Cine, and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first Leica Store in Tokyo.
