Leica Fotografie International
LFI Magazine
This issue offers first insights into the major retrospective of Werner Bischof’s oeuvre, which will be presented at the Ernst Leitz Museum. Jamie Johnson accompanies children of the ‘travelling folk’ in Ireland, while Emil Ducke documents the challenges of winter for the people of Ukraine. Also featured: Phil Penman’s impressions of New York’s city streets, and Sacha Goldberger’s reverse interpretation of classic Hitchcock scenes.
In the technical section, we shine a light on Leica’s design philosophy, and take a look at the future of colour film in Europe. We also delve into the world of Matt Draper, who creates fine-art underwater photos with the Leica M.
The cover photo on issue 2.2024 of the LFI magazine was taken in October, 1951. It was first published in Werner Bischof's photo book Japan, which appeared shortly after his death in 1954.
