"DECONSTRUCTION“ - Fabian Dopfer
Leica Gallery Constance presents the exhibition “DECONSTRUCTION“ by Fabian Dopfer

In Fabian Dopfer’s work, color and form collide. With full force and energy, yet in a very particular, narrative way, almost painterly to sculptural. These are compositions that challenge our visual habits and thus do what art should always do: engage viewers while also challenging them.

Dopfer himself would place himself in the technical corner. From an early age, he was interested in anything that could be taken apart, explored, and reassembled. He was, and still is, curious, and at the same time a lover of nature. The mountains and the natural world were already a source of balance and inspiration for Dopfer, who was born in Dachau, during childhood. With the camera, however, he discovered new perspectives that were more interesting than what he perceived with the naked eye. “The value of being able to capture a truly good photo of a moment outdoors became greater to me than the actual experience in nature,” he says.

For Dopfer, the result is what counts. However, it should by no means be perfect; instead, he celebrates in his photographs the small imperfections that occur and create beautiful moments. For him, his photographs represent a counter-movement to AI. His works feature fantasy worlds, colorful, loud, and quirky situations that initially irritate. At the same time, they attract the eye through their vivid colors. The three-dimensionality adds a special depth to the images, while light and shadow follow their own dynamic. Shapes and colors, selected by Dopfer, carefully assembled, and composed in the studio until everything forms a coherent whole for him. Analog and by hand.
