A camera opens a window onto the world, and few have played such a notable role as the Leica M in capturing some of the most iconic images of recent times: from armed conflicts and major social events to candid street scenes, moments of everyday life, close-up portraits of public figures and tranquil landscapes across the globe.
The Magic Moments exhibition presents a carefully curated selection of photographs taken with a Leica M by renowned 20th century masters, including René Burri, Inge Morath, Marc Riboud, Elliott Erwitt and, notably, Henri Cartier-Bresson, who embodies the Leica M philosophy like no other. Their work is complemented by that of more contemporary photographers such as Sebastião Salgado, Mary Ellen Mark and Jane Evelyn Atwood who have explored documentary photography from a deeply human perspective, exhibiting a strong personal engagement with their subjects. Photographers who have pursued a more artistic and introspective path with their Leica M also feature in the exhibition, including Ralph Gibson, William Klein and Paulo Nozolino.
