Leica Gallery Mexico City presents the exhibition "Miguel Milló: From the Same Clay," showcasing a selection of thirteen large-format photographs, including unpublished material produced with the SL3 camera exclusively for this collaboration with Leica, as well as a monumental photo-mosaic inspired by one of his iconic photographs. Here, Milló's interest in blurring the line between the pictorial and performative is evident, using photography as the medium that materializes his actions.

The exhibition will open on April 25, 2024, as part of the Festival of Flowers, which takes place annually on Masaryk Avenue. This year's theme will be " The garden of amazing beings". This theme fosters an organic and natural dialogue with Milló's work, which will be showcased at Leica Gallery Mexico City, a new landmark for photography and art in Mexico City.

About the Artist

Miguel Milló's work (Sonora, Mexico) is an ongoing dialogue between creativity and technique. Since the beginning, the human figure has been the vehicle of expression, the body transformed into a living canvas that pulsates and cracks when intervened with elements of nature such as clays, pigments, flowers, fruits, and seeds, forming ephemeral compositions. Milló captures his images on various mediums; in addition to producing photographic prints on traditional and unconventional supports, Milló has ventured into glass mosaics, offering a reinterpretation of this ancient technique that reached its peak in ancient Byzantium. Miguel Milló's iconography is contemporary; his characters transition between the profane and the ethereal, inviting viewers on a journey through volume, texture, color, and the depth of an art in constant motion.

Miguel Milló's artistic and conceptual proposal is a continuous search for equality and universality. Hence his interest in ancient cultures and his desire to connect them with the present through his artistic creation. He has a special interest and sensitivity towards social actions, participating in various initiatives of foundations and institutions that promote public health and female empowerment, to name a couple of examples.
