The Strengths of the 16–35 mm SL Zoom Lens
You can react flexibly as you change your viewpoint without having to change your lens. Sharpness remains consistent across the image field and distortion is controlled. While the lens offers a natural wide-angle effect for reportage photography, the details are excellent for landscape shots. The autofocus moves a single, very lightweight lens element, ensuring especially precise and smooth operation – a clear advantage for continuous focusing in video applications. Design Details
The wide-angle design is based on 18 lenses in 12 groups. Multiple aspherical elements reduce distortion and ensure uniform sharpness right up to the edges. Specialised glass elements with anomalous partial dispersion minimise chromatic aberration at high contrasts. The optical configuration is designed to keep image quality consistent across the entire zoom range. With a close focus distance of 25 cm, wide-angle shots can be captured with striking foreground elements. The housing is sealed against dust and moisture.
