New Leica Summilux Optics and Leica Live Moment for Expressive Visual Storytelling Up Close and At Distance
The new Xiaomi 17T series – consisting of the Xiaomi 17T and the Xiaomi 17T Pro – are the next step in the successful technology partnership between Xiaomi and Leica Camera AG. The new generation of smartphones helps create the unmistakeable Leica aesthetic with advanced mobile imaging technology and opens up new creative possibilities for users – from high-precision portraits and detailed telephoto shots to moving moments with Leica character.
The focal point of the Xiaomi 17T series is the jointly developed camera system with Leica Summilux optics. Both models have a versatile three-camera system with a Leica main camera, Leica 5x telephoto lens and Leica ultra wide-angle camera. This allows the series to offer huge creative freedom across a variety of different focal lengths – from the 15mm ultra wide-angle to the 115mm telephoto range.
Leica Summilux Optics for Clear and Detailed Photography
The Xiaomi 17T series’ main camera is equipped with a Leica Summilux lens and adapted to the image sensors for both models respectively. The Xiaomi 17T Pro features a Leica Vario-Summilux 15–115 f/1.67–3.0 ASPH. lens and a Light Fusion 950 image sensor. A Leica Vario-Summilux 15–115 f/1.7–3.0 ASPH. lens is used in the Xiaomi 17T, in combination with a Light Fusion 800 image sensor.
This blend of Leica optics and Xiaomi imaging technology enables precise reproduction of detail, colours that look natural and a high level of creative flexibility – including in challenging lighting conditions. In this way, the Leica Summilux optics help create a clear visual language with extraordinary depth and an authentic feel.
Leica 5x Telephoto Lens Brings New Horizons Closer Than Ever
In a first for the Xiaomi T series, both models have a Leica 5x telephoto lens. With a 50-megapixel resolution, optical image stabilisation and a focal length of 115mm, it opens up new opportunities for portrait, detail and telephoto shots. A close focus distance of 30 cm opens up the creative potential of telephoto macro shots.
The camera system also supports an AI Ultra Zoom of up to 120x. This allows subjects to be captured flexibly even at great distances – from landscapes and architectural details to stage or event photography. Special shooting modes like Stage Mode also help in difficult lighting conditions and ensure subjects can be captured clearly and effectively even in challenging surroundings.
Leica Live Moment: When the Moment Becomes the Story
With Leica Live Moment, the Xiaomi 17T series takes the photographic experience into a new storytelling dimension. This function doesn’t just capture the moment the photo is taken – it brings natural motions and emotions into the picture. This results in dynamic shots in 2K resolution, bringing together motion, emotion and the Leica visual aesthetic.
Leica Live Moment is available across all rear focal lengths and can also be used in portrait mode. New Leica watermarks highlight the photographic nature of the shots taken. Multiple Leica Live Moments can also be combined to make collages and shared straight to social media.
The Xiaomi 17T also offers expanded video functions, including 8K video recording with 30 frames per second, 4K recordings with up to 120 frames per second and Log video recordings in 4K. With Ultra-HD Live Moment in 4K and smooth zoom effects, the Pro model opens up the additional creative possibilities of motion-rich visual stories.
