Leica Camera Japan is pleased to announce an upcoming photography exhibition by New York-based photographer and filmmaker Mark de Paola.
De Paola is highly acclaimed for his unique cinematic style of expression that fuses fine art and commercial photography. His underlying philosophy, “Stream of Consciousness”, captures human consciousness as a dynamic series of images and ideas. De Paola captures this world that extends deep into our thoughts in the form of photographs. His images, which look as if they were taken from a scene in a movie, invite the viewer into a momentary narrative, they evoke a sense of primordial beauty. The intersection of visual contrasts and subtle blurring of expression evoke the memories and emo-tions of each viewer and make them imagine a new story.
Stream of Consciousness is a portal into me, into my simultaneity of thought and my exploration between person and landscape. I imagine these images as if they are from cinema - odd frames from my mind hung together to exist as their own narrative for fleeting time. Visual contrasts of fire and water, light and shadow, flesh and earth, become skin for a primal frame in silence.
