"Imagine" - Mareike Föcking
Leica Gallery Düsseldorf presents the exhibition “Imagine“ by Mareike Föcking

The multi-part, spatially expansive photographic installations by the Düsseldorf-based artist and photographer Mareike Föcking (*1966) address the transformed image culture of our time. The focus is on the increasing interweaving of real and digital image worlds.
Her works move between analog and digital photography, exploring the interplay of chance, perception, and reality.

In the large-format series In There Out There, she presents a distinctive form of street photography by capturing mirror images of people enveloped in a unique color space and lighting atmosphere, always in search of the magic of the moment within the randomness of the situation.

The series Blocked Shops was created in the immediate vicinity of the Königsallee, when, during Carnival season, luxury stores barricade their storefronts. Here, the logos of international fashion brands encounter spontaneous graffiti in public space.

In the series Imagine, Föcking combines analog contact sheets with AI-assisted image generation. Printed on glass plates, these works serve as a deliberate reminiscence of the origins of photography.
