With Aperitivo, Leica Project Room Nuremberg presents a photographic homage to Milan’s bar culture. Analog black-and-white photographs capture the city’s distinctive atmosphere—raw, elegant, and timeless. Between gleaming counters, fleeting gestures, and soft light, the images tell stories of tradition, human connection, and the unmistakable rhythm of Milan. In collaboration with Camparino, Milan-based Leica photographer Daria Troitskaia offers a personal perspective on the city, revealing its vibrant everyday culture through calm and carefully composed images.

Born in Saint Petersburg, raised in Vienna, and now living in Milan, Daria Troitskaia has made her home in a city that has long attracted artists, designers, and free spirits. After working as an art director, she dedicated herself entirely to photography. Her diverse body of work spans street, portrait, and fashion photography, as well as still life and aerial art. A keen sense of observation, movement, and visual storytelling characterizes her photographic approach.

In her recent projects, Troitskaia has increasingly focused on analog black-and-white photography. The reduction to light, form, and structure reflects her ambition not only to capture beauty, but also to reveal meaning. Working with her Leica M7 and Noctilux-M lens, she creates images distinguished by natural grain, subtle tonal gradations, and a timeless visual quality. The interplay of light and shadow, in particular, lends the photographs their compelling atmosphere.

Daria Troitskaia’s work brings together personal history, artistic vision, and a profound understanding of urban culture. The result is a body of work that captures the unique spirit of Milan while resonating far beyond the city itself.
