Leica Galleries
Leica Galleries – Places of Vibrant Visual Culture Since 1979
Leica Camera AG shares its passion for photography at the highest level, with many people all over the world. This is why Leica has always been committed to making outstanding photographers and their work accessible to a wider audience. The Leica name stands for an unmistakeable visual culture combining tradition and innovation. For decades now, Leica has been offering renowned photographers, as well as newcomer talent, the opportunity to present their work to the broader general public. Leica Galleries were brought to life as the perfect forum for this purpose. The tradition reaches back to the 1970s, with the establishment of the first Leica Gallery in 1976 in Wetzlar, which is now located at Leica Camera AG Headquarters. Further Leica Galleries were to follow, and these cultural centres are now found in many places around the world.
“Extending over continents, beyond language and political barriers, the 26 Leica Galleries connect people through the universal language of photography.
In its own unique manner, each location tells a story about light, shadow and time, about proximity, world events and respect for the decisive moment. Together, the galleries form a growing network that highlights what Leica has always stood for: a belief in the power of meaningful images, in their quality, and in the responsibility to look closer and discover the world with our eyes, souls and hearts.
Leica Galleries are places of encounter and exchange, where visitors and collectors can discover, experience and acquire outstanding pieces of work.”
