100 Years of Leica:
Witness to a Century

We presented the Leica I to the public at the Leipzig Spring Fair exactly 100 years ago – and revolutionised the world of photography in the process. The extraordinary story of the first series-produced compact camera is the focus of our anniversary celebrations as well as honouring those who had the courage to see the world differently and capture their view with a Leica. All around the globe, we celebrate the story of an icon and the people who have helped write it. The legendary story of the Leica I.

At various stages throughout 2025, we’ll be holding celebratory events with the motto “100 years of Leica: Witness to a century” in Dubai, Milan, New York, Shanghai and Tokyo, culminating in an anniversary week in Wetzlar. And wherever you are in the world, you too are invited to soak up new products, cultural activities and international exhibitions, including installations, workshops and festivals. The main attraction, however, will be the opportunity to meet up with like-minded people, in order to experience the fascinating world of Leica and create inspiring and meaningful moments together.
