Explore the sun-drenched corners of Ischia, Italy, with Amelia Le Brun as she captures the island’s beauty with her Leica M11-D.

Nestled off the coast of Naples, Ischia is a volcanic island steeped in charm. Wander alongside Amelia through pastel-coloured villages and feel the warmth of golden hour as she lounges on beaches.

With her M11-D, she captures quiet moments in rich, true-to-life tones. Amelia invites you to see the world as she does: slowly, deliberately, and with intent.

I feel like I’m constantly searching for photos, and what I look for depends on where I am in the world. I think the main three things that are universal are: light, interesting characters, and things that are unique to the place I am — be that an old motel sign, rows of beach chairs, or iconic mountain peaks.

Storytelling is at the centre of all my work, and I aim to do that in every image, A beautiful view is just that — but making people feel like they could be a part of that image is important to me.

Shooting with the Leica M11-D is so refreshing. You’re not distracted by screens or menus; it’s just you and the moment. It brings back that film-like mindset: being present, intentional, and trusting your instincts.

The Leica M11-D is photography in its purest form—designed for those who value intention, craftsmanship, and focus. Stripped of distractions like a rear LCD screen, the M11-D invites you to slow down and engage with each moment more deliberately.

At its core lies a powerful 60MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor, delivering exceptional image quality, dynamic range, and low-light performance.

Physically, I feel the M11-D and the M6 are very alike — which is one of the things I love the most. Both feel stripped back and classic, with just the essentials. I love that the ISO dial on the Back of the M6 is emulated on the M11-D — there’s nothing extra getting in the way; everything you need and nothing you don’t!

Because of this, switching between them feels natural. The handling, the layout, the feel — it all translates smoothly, which makes for a seamless workflow whether I’m shooting film or digital.

The M11-D is a truly unique and beautifully made camera. It strikes the perfect balance between the tactile, mindful experience of shooting film and the convenience and reliability of digital.

If you’re someone who wants to be fully present while shooting — without constantly checking a screen — but still appreciates the safety net of digital, it’s a fantastic choice.

About Amelia

Based in the UK but typically found travelling around Europe in her yellow campervan, Amelia is a freelance travel and lifestyle photographer, with a significant portion of her work captured on film, reflecting her appreciation for authenticity and craft. While her passion lies in the outdoors and adventure, it’s storytelling that defines her work—drawing audiences in through genuine, human-cantered narratives.

"I’ve recently started spending some time on the coast — the Italian coast in particular — and I am completely in love with that feeling of Dolce Vita.

I tend to photograph and visit places that have a ‘feeling’ I can capture through my photos. Equally, I love spending time in the States — I don’t think there is anywhere else in the world that is better for a road trip. Classic motels, diners, and — if you’re lucky — some nice classic American cars. A real soft spot for me!"
