From the buzzing city of Marrakesh to the sands of the Sahara to a local Berber village with views of the mighty Atlas Mountains- this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore off the beaten track and to capture incredible images with tuition from Levison and a team of Leica Akademie expert tutors.

A photo expedition led by world-renowned explorer and photographer Levison Wood. He has gone where no one has dared to go before. He's walked the entire length of the river Nile, the Himalayas, Central America, crossed the Caucasus, circumnavigated the Arabian Peninsula, and completed countless other daring expeditions. His critically acclaimed television series have been broadcast around the world and he is the author of eleven best-selling books, including his photography book, Encounters. Levison has been an ambassador for Leica since 2014. He's photographed some of the most remote corners of the world, sharing the stories of the people he meets along the way.

Now, Levison is ready to open his contact book to his extensive network in Morocco for the first time ever, to create a trip like no other. Stay with his local friends and have experiences that only a true explorer could. Learn from him how to tell a story through your photography.

What’s unique about this route?
This is a journey around south Morocco from a local’s perspective. We aren’t following the tourist trail. This journey will take you off the beaten track, meeting the people and communities and discovering the Morocco that many don’t see… all to make your photographs unique and your experience special.

This exclusive photography course is carefully structured, offering expert tuition from world-class mentors, alongside intimate storytelling sessions with explorer Levison Wood.

What You’ll Learn:

Alongside each days experiences there will be a tailored set of masterclasses as follows:

• Masterclass 1: Technical Refresher – Get up to speed with the core skills you’ll need for the days ahead
• Masterclass 2: Landscape Photography – Tips and techniques for capturing spectacular scenes
• Masterclass 3: Night Photography – Learn to shoot stunning starscapes
• Masterclass 4: Portrait Photography – Create compelling portraits that capture real personality
• Masterclass 5: Documentary Storytelling – Creating narrative images to tell powerful, authentic stories
• Masterclass 6: Working with Natural Light – The core of all great photographs—learn how to harness and use lighting to your advantage

Alongside these, Levison will share anecdotes and techniques from his own travels, showing how to capture spontaneous moments that speak volumes.

What equiptment should you bring?
All brands and types of cameras are welcome on this trip and you do not need a Leica Camera to attend.
Loan of the latest Leica Cameras and binoculars for use throughout the trip is included as complimentary, this includes the following ranges:

What is the experience level of this expedition?

This expedition is suitable to all levels from a beginner who has never used a camera before to experienced photographers.
Levison and our team of expert Leica Akademie tutors are well prepared to offer tuition and advice that is tailored to your skill level.
This expedition does not require a set level of fitness and is suitable for all age ranges.
Air conditioned vehicles will be used to move between locations and the pace of the experience is relaxed with a focus on enjoying the surroundings and capturing stunning photographs.
The accommodation is a mixed variety of tented camps, riad and hotel stays. While all accommodation is comfortable it is worth noting this is an immersive adventure expedition and world-class photography course — accommodation prioritises authentic local experiences over luxury.

Preparing you for your trip:

As an added bonus, each participant receives a complimentary 3-hour 1-2-1 bespoke class with one of our Leica Akademie tutors to best prepare them for their trip (you can read more about these here: Leica Akademie Bespoke

This session can be conducted at our Mayfair or Harrods Leica Stores or online by Zoom video call and can be arranged once you have made your booking.
Each lesson will aim to get you up to speed on the fundamentals of photography along with technical help, equipment advice and/ or guidance on how to choose the best camera and binocular for your trip.

Participant requirements?

All participants will be required to submit proof of personal travel insurance covering medical emergencies for themselves and any of their fellow travellers to be permitted to attend the experience.

Refunds/ cancellation:

A 20% non-refundable deposit is paid on booking.

If cancelling 60 days or more before the workshop start date no fee will apply. Once remaining balance is paid the following refund policy will apply:

• Six or more weeks but less than twelve weeks before workshop date: 50%
• One or more weeks but less than six weeks before workshop date: 25%
• Less than seven days before workshop date: 0%
• Nonattendance: 0%
