14. LEICA STREET PHOTO CONTEST

The Leica Street Photo Contest is dedicated to street photography in all its facets. The 14th edition of the now internationally renowned competition and the selection of the 30 finalists reflect this: the range of styles and themes that make up street photography has hardly ever been greater. The Leica Gallery Vienna is showing 30 photographs that made it to the finals of the 14th Leica Street Photo Contest. One of them will be chosen as the winner at the opening of the exhibition on March 6. The selection represents the various manifestations of what is commonly referred to as the decisive moment. As in Henri Cartier-Bresson’s style-defining essay of the same name from 1952, the competition celebrates those photographs that manage to capture the great diversity of life in a fraction of a second. Whether intimate snapshots, capturing fleeting moments or impressive street scenes, whether humorous, dramatic or tragicomic: anything is possible in street photography.
