Leica Camera Mexico City launches the first edition of the Leica Latin America Luxury Travel Photography Awards, an initiative that celebrates the region’s visual talent and redefines the bond between travel, people, culture, and the environment.
A new era for photography in the region begins with the launch of the first edition of the Leica Latin America Luxury Travel Photography Awards, an initiative that celebrates Latin American visual talent and promotes new perspectives on the bond between travel, people, culture, and the environment.
Open to professional and emerging photographers between 18 and 60 years old who are from—or reside in—Spanish-speaking Latin American countries, this competition aspires to become an international benchmark for travel photography. Its goal is to gather authentic visual narratives that—beyond traditional categories such as landscape, portrait, or nature—reflect the invaluable human connection with place and cultural experiences.
The creation of these awards was made possible thanks to the vision of Luxury Travel Magazine, the media outlet that proposed this historic alliance with Leica Camera. Above all, this milestone is strengthened by the support of an extraordinary group of partners who share a passion for exploration, excellence, and authenticity in the world of travel: LATAM Airlines as the official airline; Belmond and NUBA, leaders in luxury hospitality and experiences; PONANT, a pioneer in expedition cruises; and Chablé Yucatán, a jewel of Mexican hospitality.
With their support, the competition will reward three photographers with unique travel experiences and state-of-the-art Leica equipment. First prize will receive a Leica Q camera and travel to Peru for an editorial production with Luxury Travel Magazine, featuring stays and experiences curated by Belmond by NUBA and LATAM Airlines. Second prize will receive a Leica D-Lux 8 and a 14-day editorial voyage with PONANT and LATAM Airlines, while third prize will be awarded Leica binoculars and a stay at Chablé Yucatán, Mexico. All winning series will be published in Luxury Travel Magazine and across its digital platforms, amplifying Latin American talent to the world.
The jury for this first edition comprises internationally recognized figures: Carol Körting, editor at Leica Fotografie International; Greta Rico, the first winner of the Leica Women Foto Project in Mexico; Manolo Márquez, Manager of Leica Gallery Mexico City; Diego Rodríguez, a photographer specializing in wildlife; and Mario del Duca, Managing Director of the Americas at NUBA, a passionate traveler who has dedicated his life to exploring the world and turning that experience into unique projects. The jury will be moderated by Valerio Negri, the visionary behind this project and a leading voice in luxury tourism in Latin America, who currently serves as Editorial Director of Luxury Travel Magazine.
Through this alliance, Leica reaffirms its commitment to building a visual community that documents and preserves the essence of our territories—supported by the quality and legacy of a brand celebrating its 100th anniversary and continuing to champion photography as a tool for cultural connection.
The call for entries will be open from August 20 to October 15, 2025. The full terms and guidelines can be found at: www.leica-camera.com/en-int/primer-concurso-de-fotografia-de-viaje-2025.
Photographs may be captured with any photographic equipment; what matters most is conveying an authentic vision, a strong narrative, and a genuine connection with the region. Entries must reflect the essence of the moment, without using mobile phones or digital alterations that compromise authenticity.
