Madrid Dresses up as Leica
The City as a Great Showcase for Photography
During these weeks, Madrid is accompanying this unique cultural moment, showcasing "Leica. A Century of Photography".
From Plaza de Callao to Gran Vía and other main avenues, all Madrid has thrown itself into the centenary exhibition, which celebrates 100 years since the launch of the legendary Leica I.
An Unprecedented Cultural Success
The reception for "Leica. A Century of Photography" has been extraordinary: more than 100,000 people have already visited the exhibition and enjoyed a unique journey through Leica's history over the last century.
Remember that the exhibition will be on display at the Fernán Gómez Theatre, Madrid City Cultural Centre, until 11 January 2026. Admission is free, with no ticket required. This is your last chance to immerse yourself in a century of images that changed history.
The Image that Defines the Exhibition
"Peshawar, Pakistan", Steve McCurry's iconic photograph, serves as the starting point for the exhibition. Taken with a Leica in Pakistan in 2002, it depicts a young Afghan refugee wrapped in a green veil. The photograph invites us to look beyond the conflict, celebrating the humanity that persists in extreme circumstances.
The Celebration Continues with "Magic Moments"
Don't miss the "Magic Moments" exhibition at Leica Gallery Madrid: a selection of iconic photographs taken with the Leica M by masters such as Cartier-Bresson, René Burri and Elliott Erwitt, alongside contemporaries such as Sebastião Salgado and Mary Ellen Mark.
An open invitation to discover new stories through the Leica lens.
The exhibition will be open until the 4th of February. We look forward to seeing you at Leica Gallery Madrid.
