Photography has always been more than just an art form to Kathryn; it's a means of expression, connection, and dialogue. As she set out to create her latest project featuring the Leica M11-P, she was driven by the idea that photography is a powerful tool to foster community. Through this project, she aims to explore how the medium can bring people together, evoke shared experiences, and ultimately create spaces for connection in an increasingly fragmented world.

The Leica M11-P, with its refined design and unmatched image quality, is not just a camera; it’s an invitation to engage with the world more intimately and thoughtfully. As I set out to capture moments, emotions, and stories, I kept coming back to the fundamental belief that photography isn’t just about the images it produces, but the relationships it builds along the way.

Along with her cinematographer, Chris Pilarski, Kathryn sought out a myriad of environments and their inhabitants in the ranches, deserts, and coasts of California. She met others who all had their own stories to tell. The camera lowers the inevitable barriers that lie in the unfamiliar or not yet explored and offers a palpable place where an emotional dance can begin. Her Leica gives her the ability to capture images with stunning clarity and depth and serves as a point of connection and exploration with the outside world that feels like a certain visual poetry. When shooting, she is drawn closer to people, and to the evolving community that forms around the shared appreciation of visual storytelling.
