The strategic purchasing at Leica Camera AG is centralised at the headquarters in Wetzlar and is responsible for the acquisition of the Leica facilities.

Operational purchasing is decentralised to the product lines and is located at the production sites.

Strategic purchasing

The strategic purchasing is an essential part of the entire acquisition process at Leica Camera AG. This includes the responsibility of the selection, qualification and evaluation of suppliers, project and production launches, price and cost agreements, development and framework agreements. Furthermore, it involves projects, the ramp-up to series production maturity and immediate intervention in the event of an interruption in the series production.Together with quality management, strategic purchasing is your partner for audits, supplier applications, and supplier evaluation. This supports compliance with the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LKSG). The basis for this cooperation is the Code of Conduct, which is binding for all of our suppliers.

A key component of strategic purchasing is the planning, development, and implementation of acquisition strategies to ensure that the company's needs are met in a qualitative, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

Indirect Purchasing

Indirect Purchasing is an important component of Leica Camera AG's acquisition strategy, focusing on the sourcing of materials and services that are required for the Company's operations. These materials are not directly included in Leica Camera AG's end products.

The strategic acquisition of indirect requirements aims to optimise costs, ensure product quality and establish long-term supplier relationships. As an important interface/link between internal stakeholders/departments and external partners, Indirect Purchasing is responsible for identifying cost optimisations and ensuring efficient acquisition processes.
