"A chronicle in pictures. 10 years of Leica Frankfurt"
Leica Gallery Frankfurt presents the exhibition "A chronicle in pictures. 10 years of Leica Frankfurt"

To mark its 10th anniversary in their current premises, the Leica Gallery Frankfurt is dedicating an exhibition to its own history. Entitled "A Chronicle in Pictures. 10 Years of Leica Frankfurt," the exhibition features iconic photographs that have shaped the exhibition landscape over the past ten years. The show brings together works by internationally renowned photographers such as Elliott Erwitt, Thomas Hoepker, Werner Bischof, Walter Vogel, Martin Parr, Michael Friedel, Alex Webb, René Groebli, Franziska Stünkel, and many other artists. They not only document decisive moments in contemporary history, but also write photographic history themselves.

The exhibition is both a tribute and a retrospective: it honors the diversity of artistic positions presented at the Leica Gallery Frankfurt and shows the close connection with the international photography scene. The spectrum ranges from classic reportage and street photography to impressive portraits and contemporary works that explore new forms of expression.
The exhibition is divided into three chapters: It begins with the history of color photography, which spans from the 1930s to the present day. In contemporary photography, a wide variety of painterly effects are being experimented with. This chapter is followed by classic documentary photography by the icons of the history of photography such as Elliott Erwitt and Thomas Hoepker, who were also close friends and hold a very special relationship with the gallery. The exhibition concludes with the third chapter, which is dedicated to the alliance between photography, fashion, film, and music over the decades.
