The Leica Gallery Frankfurt is delighted to present the exhibition "Martin Parr in Colour" from September 14, 2024, to January 4, 2025, providing a profound insight into the work of one of Britain's most significant documentary photographers. Martin Parr, known for his distinctive color photographs, focuses on the facets of everyday life and consumer culture in his works. His pieces are characterized by vibrant colors and everyday scenes that are often humorously and satirically interpreted.

Parr's photographs aim to both make viewers laugh and provoke thought. With his keen eye, he exposes the absurdities of modern life without succumbing to nostalgia or romanticism. The exhibited motifs include iconic images such as the woman whose face is covered by an English flag or the postcard motif of a crowded beach with a price tag – works that have garnered worldwide recognition. Equally unmistakable is the image of a swan gazing directly into the camera as if posing specifically for this photo.

The exhibition showcases Parr's ability to capture everyday life in an exaggerated and sometimes absurd manner. His photographs often come across as sarcastic and ironic but also invite deeper contemplation on social and cultural issues. Parr's deliberate exaggeration challenges the viewer to look beyond the depicted scenes and reflect on the complex, sometimes contradictory aspects of modern life.

"Martin Parr in Colour" is a critical documentation of our society, encouraging exploration of the fine lines between comedy and seriousness, reality and exaggeration, and prompting a new perspective on the absurdities of daily life.

Alongside the exhibition at the Leica Gallery Frankfurt, the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt (FFF) presents the exhibition "MARTIN PARR. EARLY WORKS" from September 13, 2024, to January 5, 2025, a highlight in the 40 YEARS FFF anniversary year. For the first time in Germany, over fifty rarely seen black-and-white photographs by the British MAGNUM photographer Martin Parr, taken between 1970 and 1985, will be displayed.
