Improved minimum focusing distance

With a minimum focusing distance of 40 centimetres, the wide-angle lens unlocks fascinating photographic opportunities. This capability stems from a unique dual-curve mechanism crafted by Leica's expert engineers. It notably expands the rotational range of the distance ring compared to the previous model, letting you get even closer to your subjects. The compact prime lens boasts a focus ring that allows for exceptionally quiet, smooth and easy adjustments across the entire range. Focusing is still managed through the M camera's rangefinder for up to 70 centimetres. For distances ranging from 70 to 40 centimetres, you can rely on the live view display, Visoflex 2, or the Leica FOTOS app.

The Strengths of the 28 mm Leica M-Lens

The Summicron-M 28 f/2 ASPH. excels in scenarios where spatial awareness and contextual detail enrich the narrative. Whether in urban settings, on the road or during documentary assignments. Thanks to its f/2 lens speed, it makes photography possible even in challenging lighting and yields images that appear clear and naturally rendered. Its streamlined build lends itself perfectly to discreet photography. Its refined optical design ensures elevated contrast, suppresses distortion and preserves remarkable sharpness right to the outermost edges of the frame.
