Pursuing my path of creativity

Krystle Wright with the Leica SL2-S Reporter

Renowned as one of the world’s leading adventure photographers, Krystle Wright has dedicated herself to capturing the unique beauty of her expeditions across all seven continents. Together with her friend, colleague and mentor, legendary surf photographer Ted Grambeau, they embark on an epic 7,000 km road trip across Australia to reveal the hidden beauty of this enigmatic landscape.

There were no set plans but to follow our intuition and see where the road would lead us. I've spent most of my adult life living a nomadic lifestyle on the road and I can assure you, that allows a lot of time to get lost in one's thoughts. What I've come to realise is, the insecurities I feel that constantly plague me throughout my career as a freelance photographer is not a lonely thought.

Even when I don't have a camera in hand, I am enamoured with the light and watch it every day with a childlike curiosity. I chose this path to pursue a life as a freelance photographer and I do not for a moment regret my choices, as photography truly opened my world further than I could've ever dreamed of.

“When the light just perfectly hits whatever it is I’m shooting – the landscape, the people – that just makes me forget everything else because that moment is just sublime.”
