My Everyday Camera

Ana Carina Hernandez and the Leica Q3 visit her hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico

27/10/2025

Ana Carina Hernandez takes her everyday camera, the Leica Q3, back to her hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico. As she wanders through the familiar streets, she captures the quiet poetry of daily life: the stillness of sunlit corners, the hum of morning markets, and the gentle rhythm of people beginning their day. As she turns the ordinary to cinematic, she presents a reflection of both nostalgia and discovery, where every frame tells a story of connection to place and moment.

“I like to approach any city by blending in and observing. The Leica Q3 is ideal for street photography because it’s fast, discreet, and lets me move through the streets unnoticed. Its size and the tiltable screen gave me the freedom to experiment with angles while keeping the process natural.”

“Returning home with my Q3 in hand felt like rediscovering my roots through a new lens. This series is inspired by the quiet beauty in between the chaos, from the morning rush and mercados to the stillness of street corners. Its compact design and versatility allowed me to move through those moments naturally, working intuitively and staying present, while capturing the textures, colours, and stories that hold so much of my history.”

Shooting with the Summilux 28 f/1.7 ASPH. lens challenged me in the beginning, but that’s exactly why I value it now. It trained my eye to step in closer, to be more intentional, and to see differently, and that intimacy has become an important part of my work.

“I choose the Q3 because of its convenience and quality. Whether I am traveling, working on a campaign, or with my family, I know the images will have Leica’s signature look. As a mum I am always carrying so much, so I appreciate how the Q3 keeps up with both professional work and everyday life without ever feeling heavy.”
