The Strengths of the 90 mm SL-Lens
This 90 mm lens gives you utmost control over how space is perceived. The background blurs ever so softly, while the subject stays clear and maintains structure. Even at a wide aperture, the level of detail delivered to the camera by this fixed focal length remains particularly high. The apochromatic correction of the APO-Summicron-SL 90 f/2 ASPH. prevents chromatic aberration at hard contrast edges, lending portraits clean contours and natural colours.
Design Details
The optical design is based on 11 lenses in nine groups. Multiple elements are made of glass with anomalous partial dispersion to minimise chromatic aberration. An aspherical lens eliminates spherical aberrations. Even at a wide aperture, this ensures a high level of detail while colour fringing is also effectively suppressed. Thanks to an AF system designed for precise focus tracking in the telephoto range as well as a close focus distance of 60 cm, the APO-Summicron-SL 90 f/2 ASPH. is perfectly suited to impressive portrait photography with consistent optical performance. Its robust metal housing is sealed against dust and splash water.
