Leica is pleased to announce the photography exhibition ‘Timeless Vision’, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Leica Ginza store and the Leica Gallery Tokyo.
The Leica Ginza store, which opened in April 2006 as the world's first Leica flagship store, marks its 20th anniversary this year. The Leica Gallery Tokyo, located on the second floor, was established as the second gallery in the world operated by Leica, following the one in Wetzlar, Germany.
To mark this 20th anniversary milestone, ‘Timeless Vision’, held at the Leica Gallery Tokyo and Leica Professional Store Tokyo, will exhibit 35 works by 12 photographers from Japan and abroad who have previously held exhibitions at the Leica Gallery Tokyo.
Photography is not merely documentation or an image for consumption; it is also an act of engaging with the world, bearing witness to the moment, and conveying meaning beyond time. This exhibition, ‘Timeless Vision’, looks back on the visual history built by Leica and its photographers. It also serves as an attempt to show anew how the expression of photography connects to the present and the future, offering an exhibition where you can appreciate the diversity of Leica photography.
Curated by Karin Rehn-Kaufmann, representative and art director of Leica Gallery International, this exhibition features 35 works from the Leica Photo Archive Collection, which symbolises the history of Leica photography, by Elliott Erwitt, Sebastião Salgado, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Constantine Manos, Jürgen Schadberg, Bruce Gilden, René Burri, Robert Doisneau, and Marc Riboud, as well as representative works by Herbie Yamaguchi, Kikuji Kawada, and Yoshino Ōishi.
"For me, this exhibition speaks about a way of looking at the world. The photographs—created across different times, cities, and cultures—are united by a shared gaze: attentive, respectful, and deeply human. Timeless Vision reminds us that photography is more than an image; it is a quiet dialogue with the moment and a testament to our shared history."

Leica Gallery Wetzlar
50 Years of Leica Galleries
For 50 years, Leica Galleries across the globe have existed as more than mere exhibition spaces. They are places for imagination, dialogue and connection. Since the first Leica Galerie opened in Wetzlar in 1976, a global network of Leica Galleries has grown across continents. These galleries are united by the belief that images have the power to move people and change perspectives. The Leica Galleries celebrate the art of seeing and the power of photography. They have been bringing cultures, generations and stories together, spanning borders, for half a century – reinforcing the idea that true photography is timeless and that seeing is still a universal language.
