Visit the exhibition CITY PORTRAITS: Walk with the Leica Akademie surrounded by nature
To mark the 100-year anniversary of the Leica I, we are presenting a very special exhibition in our Leitz Park Woods at the Leica World – CITY PORTRAITS: Walk with the Leica Akademie. The Leica Akademie is exhibiting street photography from around the world amidst the ambience of the woods to strike a fascinating contrast with the surrounding nature. The exhibition can be visited free of charge every day from 29 June to 26 October 2025.

Outdoor Photo Exhibition in the Leitz Park Woods
The street photography genre has been closely associated with Leica from the very beginning. The compact and quick Leica I was the first camera to allow photographers to inconspicuously capture everyday life on the streets at decisive moments. The genre continues to retain its vibrant poignancy to this today. The exhibition features the witty, beautiful and exciting imagery that street photography offers everyone who is willing to look closely at everyday life.
As one of the world’s oldest photography schools, the Leica Akademie is celebrating its 95th anniversary this year. Now active worldwide, it allows prestigious photographers to share their knowledge with photography enthusiasts. The works of Jesse Marlow, Knox Bertie, Russell Shakespeare, Stephen Dupont, Pia Parolin, Siegfried Hansen, Mariko Taya, Matt Stuart and Robin Sinha surprise, inspire and make you want to take pictures.
Passion and Knowledge Since 1930
What began in 1930 as the “Lehr-Atelier Wetzlar” (Wetzlar training atelier), was renamed the “Leica Schule” in 1938 and finally became “Leica Akademie” in 1988. Today, it combines passion for photography with technical know-how in over 18 countries. From workshops to master classes, the Leica Akademie offers photography enthusiasts the opportunity to learn more about Leica cameras and lenses, discover new perspectives and get to know Leica’s visual philosophy by engaging in creative dialogue.
