I have purchased the AB elite pro for my PRO device binoculars but can’t seem to install the software to the actual binoculars.

  • There is no indication within the device.  However, if the upgrade was successful, you will not long see the upgrade button in the app.  You may verify the license level by visiting the rangefinder settings screen and the license level is presented at the bottom of the view.
  • Additionally, you can easily check if you get correction values beyond 875yds.  You can also visit the gun profile management within the app and check whether features like twist rate or zero height are available.

I bought an Elite upgrade on one Geovid Pro product then upgraded to a different one. Can I move my Applied Ballistics Elite upgrade from one Geovid Pro to another?

  • Yes, but the upgrade is only valid on one product at a time.
  • Please contact the following support to request moving your upgrade:

          support@ab.us.com

Is the Applied Ballistics Elite upgrade bought stored on the device or application?

  • The upgrade is bought for the device. Please make sure connecting your device to the app on a regular basis. The Applied Ballistics Elite ballistics solver within the app resets after 30 days.

The Applied Ballistics Elite ballistics solver within the app expires after 30 days. What happens to my profiles and how to get Applied Ballistics Elite back within the app?

  • The profile will still be available within the app, but with limited features within the gun profile management. Once a rangefinder with the Applied Ballistics Elite software is reconnected to the app, the Elite level features are once again available.

Why there is no upgrade for .COM devices available?

  • The .COM devices use the Leica ABC calculation on-board and not the Applied Ballistics solver. The calculation is limited to the app.

Is the coriolis effect calculated automatically considered into the formula when Elite is installed?

The Coriolis effect is automatically considered into the onboard ballistics calculation when Elite is installed. It breaks down into a horizontal and a vertical component.

  • The Horizontal component depends on your latitude, which is how far you are above or below the equator. Within Elite on-board calculation the rangefinder considers the smartphone the last connected position based on GPS. It’s not a very sensitive position. So even working many hundred kilometers of accuracy is fine. So, no need to connect to the phone if you are not moving on the other side of the planet.
  • The Vertical component of the Coriolis effect depends on what direction you shoot. The device embedded compass sensor is used to provide information. It’s in the rangefinder, so there is no connection to the app needed.

Can I upgrade my PRO device to AB+ license level?

  • No that is not possible. The license level AB+ with Shot Shot Probability Analysis is only available within the Leica Geovid Pro 10x42 AB+ model.

Where do I find my licence level?

  • Please connect mailto:nick.vitalbo@ab.us.comyour rangefinder to the Leica Ballistics App and tap the rangefinder setting on HUD screen. The device ID is stated at the bottom of that page.

Where do I find my device ID?

  • Please connect your rangefinder to the Leica Ballistics App and tap the rangefinder setting on HUD screen. The device ID is stated at the bottom of that page.

Profile / HUD

I built a profile and programmed my Geovid, but it won’t give me a ballistic correction. What do I do?

  • Please connect your rangefinder to the Leica Ballistics App and tap the profile to synchronize and transfer the profile to the device. Please make sure that your rangefinder is set to BALL mode.

My rangefinder’s corrections (or app range card / target card) don’t match the corrections on another app I use and trust. What do I do?

  • It seems you’ve input something incorrectly somewhere.
  • Confirm the BC format to the right of ‘Ballistic Coefficient’ on your gun profile is set up correctly. If you used a G7 BC, tap the icon at the far right until it reads G7, not G1 or CC (custom curve -an AB Elite exclusive feature). Confirm that the correction value you chose is the right one. If you want corrections in MOA, chose MOA, not ¼ MOA click. Selecting ¼ MOA click tells the system to give you the number of clicks to turn, not the MOA correction.

My caliber / bullet is not shown in the libraries?

  • Please sent a bullet request via the app by pressing the “Request bullet” button within the Leica caliber database.

Where do I find a glossary describing all the features available in the profile editor?

          Applied Ballistics Glossary

How many profiles I can synchronize with my device?

  • You can synchronize one personal profile with your device at a time. To switch profiles, select the profile of interest within the app and allow it to sync with the rangefinder.

Can I store my profiles in a cloud?

  • Yes, please click the cloud icon shown on the upper left side of the gun profile management area. You can sign in via Apple or Google and your profiles will by synced by Applied Ballistics. It enables profile back up and synchronization across all of your compatible Android and iOS devices.

How do I change from manual weather input to device sensors or next weather station?

  • Please use the buttons “station”, “device” or “manual” on HUD, target card or range card to change the weather input.

Can I customize my app units?

  • Yes, please go to app setting and tap app units. By using the setting “custom” you can customize all the units used within the app as well as is the device.

Leica Pro Track

Why does my PRO device want to calibrate each time time using Leica Pro Track?

  • Some device functions (e.g. Leica Pro Track) require directional data. That is why the device comes equipped with a digital compass, which functions like a traditional magnetic compass and self-calibrates during use. To ensure high accuracy, a regular manual basic calibration may become necessary to ensure correct functionality (specifically after a change in location, battery change, temperature fluctuations, or in case of incorrect data output).

How I calibrate my device?

3rd Party devices / applications (Kestrel, Garmin, BaseMap)

To which 3rd party devices / application I can connect to?

  • You can connect to Applied Ballistics enabled 3rd party devices such as Garmin or Kestrel devices using Applied Ballistics.

My PRO disconnects from the app or my Kestrel too quickly. What do I do?

  • Connect your PRO to the app, go to ‘active profile’, then tap rangefinder settings, and tap the number to the right of ‘device timeout’ until you get to ‘5’.  This is the longest amount of time (5 minutes) your PRO and app will remain connected. Only after five minutes of communication inactivity will the units sever their connection.

I connected my pro to a mapping app but when I drop a pin, it’s in the wrong place. What do I do?

  • One of 2 things is wrong: either your PRO’s compass needs calibrating, or a metal object or magnet is close to either your phone or your PRO, throwing off its compass.

Compass Calibration

  • Connect your PRO to the app, tap ‘active profile’ to enter the HUD, tap ‘rangefinder settings’, then tap the arrow to the right of ‘compass calibration’ and follow the prompts to calibrate your PRO’s compass.

Compass interference

  • Keep all metal or magnetic objects well away from your PRO when trying to drop a GPS pin. Even your phone can throw off your PRO’s compass. Keep them as far apart as comfortable when using GPS mapping or doing calibrations. It’s actually pretty easy to hold one with one hand and the other with the other and keep them far enough apart while still being able to use both. Also be aware that many binocular chest rigs have magnets in their closures. This is one of the most common reasons for inaccurate compass readings.

General

Where do I find my installed Firmware version installed on my PRO device?

  • Go to rangefinder settings and check the stated Bluetooth version and firmware version.

Where do I find the App version installed on my smartphone/tablet?
