General Description of the Services in an Accessible Format

Our websites offer comprehensive opportunities to learn about our offerings, purchase products, and book services. Our goal is to create a digital offering that is accessible to all people, regardless of individual abilities or limitations. The websites have been designed to be accessible to all user groups, including, in particular, people with visual, auditory, mobility, or cognitive impairments.

Descriptions and Explanations Required to Understand the Delivery of Services

To make full use of our products and services on the Leica websites, certain steps are required. These include the ability to select products such as cameras and accessories, place them in the shopping cart, and complete the purchase via a simple, accessible order form. For services such as repair and consultation appointments, it is necessary to provide relevant information—such as product details or preferred dates—which can be entered in clearly structured forms.

For personalized use, we offer an accessible user account that enables customers to manage orders and service requests as well as securely store their data. All required steps are clearly structured and support ease of use through intuitive navigation and compatibility with assistive technologies.

Implementation of Accessibility Requirements under the BFSG and BFSGV

According to § 14(1) No. 1 and § 3(2) BFSG, we as a service provider are required to comply with the relevant accessibility requirements set forth in the BFSGV. This includes the accessibility requirements regarding the functionality of services as described in § 12 No. 2 (a–h) BFSGV and those applicable to websites as defined in § 12 No. 3 BFSGV. In addition, the requirements of §§ 13, 19, and 21 BFSGV also apply.

To fulfill these requirements, we implement comprehensive measures to ensure our services and websites are accessible. All website content and functions are designed in accordance with the principles of perceivability, operability, understandability, and robustness, as required in § 12(3) BFSGV. In accordance with § 12 No. 2 BFSGV, information about the functionality of our services is provided through multiple sensory channels—for example, visually through text and images, and auditorily through subtitles and audio descriptions. This information is easily discoverable, presented in a clear manner, and provided in accessible text formats that allow for the generation of alternative assistive formats. Fonts, contrasts, and spacing meet the requirements for appropriate size and improve readability. Alternative representations are provided for non-text content such as images or videos to ensure access for all user groups.

Electronic services such as booking or payment processes meet the requirements of § 19 BFSGV by being designed accessibly and fully compatible with assistive technologies such as screen readers. User interfaces offer alternative modes of operation that can be used regardless of fine motor skills, color perception, or voice input, as described in the functional performance criteria of § 21 BFSGV. Clear feedback and consistent structuring of digital information facilitate intuitive use. Regular audits and ongoing development ensure that the requirements of § 12 No. 2 and No. 3 BFSGV, as well as the further provisions under §§ 13, 19, and 21 BFSGV, are met to guarantee a comprehensive and accessible user experience.
