An Immersive Experience
More than a workshop, the Leica Darkroom offers a rare opportunity to experience the craft of analogue photography at the home of Leica in Wetzlar.
Whether you are discovering analogue photography for the first time or refining an established practice, you'll be guided by an experienced Leica specialist as you develop your own film, produce black-and-white silver gelatin prints, and explore techniques that have been practised by fine art photographers for generations.
What Happens in the Darkroom?
Dunkelkammer is the German word for darkroom – the traditional space where analogue photographs are developed and printed by hand.
The darkroom is the heart of analogue black-and-white photography. Here, exposed film is developed into negatives, which are then used to create handcrafted silver gelatin prints. Each print is unique, produced through a meticulous process that transforms a captured moment into a finished fine art print.
