The Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi brings the Leica design language, imaging expertise and photographic philosophy into the world of mobile photography. It translates the essence of Leica into a smartphone built for photographers who value intention, control and image quality.

Its design follows the Leica principle of reduction to the essentials. A black fibreglass rear panel meets a precisely knurled metal frame, creating a restrained, tactile form that is unmistakably Leica. A defining feature is the mechanical camera ring, introducing a physical, camera-inspired way to interact with the device. Fully customisable, the ring enables intuitive control over zoom, exposure value, ISO, shutter speed, focal length and Leica Looks—encouraging a deliberate photographic process.

At the heart of the Leitzphone is an advanced triple-camera system developed to Leica’s optical standards. Based on the Vario-APO-Summilux 14–100 f/1.67–2.9 ASPH. concept, it delivers optical precision across a wide focal range. The main camera features a 1-inch sensor with LOFIC technology, significantly expanding dynamic range. A periscope telephoto camera with a 200-megapixel sensor enables optical zoom from 75 mm to 100 mm, supported by autofocus and optical image stabilisation.

Leica also developed the system design and camera user interface, including the home screen, camera app and widgets. Thirteen Leica Looks, five Leica bokeh simulations, and photo-centric widgets reflect Leica’s philosophy of clarity and focus. A dedicated Leica Essential Mode reinterprets classic Leica aesthetics, including M9-inspired daylight white balance colour and M3-inspired Monopan monochrome profiles.

The optical expertise and colour science of Leica, combined with Xiaomi’s powerful mobile platform, results in a photographic experience defined by tonal depth, natural colour reproduction and visual coherence.
