Leica Gallery Mexico City proudly presents the exhibition Manuel Álvarez Bravo – Resplandor infinito, marking the first collaboration between Leica Gallery Mexico city and the Casa Archivo Manuel Álvarez Bravo. The exhibit is divided into three sections: a selection of iconic black-and-white works by the "poet of light" spanning from the 1920s to the 1990s; ten vintage prints of images captured with his Leica M4 in the house that is now the Archive in Coyoacán; and recent chromogenic prints, part of a project to cast new light on Álvarez Bravo's color work. All spaces of the Leica Store, Gallery and Akademie on Masaryk will be dedicated to showcasing the work of this global photography icon.

All prints in the exhibition were made using analog techniques from the original negatives, most of them by Don Manuel himself. The chromogenic prints were produced by Manolo Márquez at the request of the Archivo Manuel Álvarez Bravo, which is responsible for preserving and promoting the photographer's work. This exhibition highlights the interests that accompanied Álvarez Bravo throughout more than seven decades of photographic creation and reveals his visionary perspective, with images that could easily represent recent trends in portrait, urban, and landscape photography.

Álvarez Bravo remains a vital reference for any photographer seeking to transcend the superficiality of the image, with his ability to convey complex ideas and emotions through images paired with clever and eloquent titles. These titles and images form a narrative circle that elevates the viewer's experience of an artist whose engagement with the history and culture of Mexico spanned nearly a century.

This exhibition is part of the Red de la Imagen festival. A dossier of available works can be requested at the gallery or via email at info@leicastore-cdmx.com.
