Face Value is a series of portraits featuring “influencers” and “girls of Instagram”. It throws the spotlight on the changing face of media; how traditional media is being replaced by faces, and how society — including the media — constantly judge these faces, placing values on them. The phenomenal rise of the “influencer” also sparks heated debate and often, disdain — ironically from the very society who follow these girls on social media, adding to their fame.
On this topic, Adele created a series of pictures with notable personalities from Singapore's social media generation, captured with the Leica M10-P. This was a year-long project, and with every expression portrayed, there is a sense of uncertainty and yet quiet strength, reflecting the moment in time each of the girls were photographed.
