New centennial edition: the Leica D-Lux 6 ‘Edition 100’
Leica Camera AG is celebrating 100 years of Leica photography

This year, Leica Camera AG is celebrating 100 years of Leica photography. In 1914, Oskar Barnack, employed at the Ernst-Leitz-Werke in Wetzlar and a pioneer of photography, constructed the very first Leica, the Leitz Camera. The construction of this ‘Ur-Leica’ marks the birth of convenient 35 mm Leica photography with vastly increased creative scope, affording the photographer countless new forms of expression. On the occasion of this special anniversary, the programme for 2014 will see not only numerous events (including the official opening of the new Leica factory in the Leitz Park in Wetzlar in May), but also a series of centennial editions.

The second special edition of the centennial year, 2014, is the Leica D-Lux 6 ‘Edition 100’. The centennial edition includes a Leica D-Lux 6 compact camera in a two-colour finish with a silver lens and a high-gloss black camera body. A particular feature of this centennial edition is the special engraving – the centennial logo – which appears on the front of the camera body. The special-edition set includes an elegant camera case in matching genuine black leather, with the centennial logo and a carrying strap and wrist strap to match. This Leica D-Lux 6 ‘Edition 100’ is strictly limited to 5,000 sets. The centennial sets will be available from March 2014.

In its technical details, the centennial edition is identical to the standard model of the Leica D-Lux 6 and is characterised by combination of a high-performance lens and a 1.7" CMOS sensor that is particularly large for this compact camera class. The camera also offers a comprehensive range of features, including automatic mode, manual setting options and full-HD video recording capability. Optional camera accessories, for instance an electronic viewfinder, provide even greater creative freedom in all areas of photography. Together with its intuitive handling concept, this all makes the classically discreet version or the elegantly eye-catching silver-and-black version of the Leica D-Lux 6 an ideal companion for capturing those special moments in pictures of outstanding quality.
