All That Matters
The demands of modern photography and videography are as diverse as the individuals involved. Sometimes it’s about speed, sometimes resolution and sometimes robustness. And sometimes all of these factors are important. Ultimately, however, one thing matters above all else: trust. In your camera, and in yourself. The certainty of achieving exactly what you envisage without a second thought.
The Leica SL3-P – Developed Precisely for This Purpose
As the most comprehensive camera in the SL-System to date, the SL3-P offers everything you need for clear, confident image composition. From 44 MP resolution, improved hybrid autofocus, 8K video capabilities and intuitive operation to the exceptional build quality with IP54 protection. A well-rounded experience, from form to performance. For outstanding results you can feel.
Peace of mind and trust in my equipment. That’s what gives me confidence.

Confidence in the Result
Confidence comes from deep within. That is exactly where the best images are created. This applies both to your own vision and the SL3-P. The foundation is provided by a 44 MP BSI full-frame sensor, which delivers high detail resolution, up to 14 stops of dynamic range and strong low-light performance. This results in images of the highest quality, showcasing subtle tonal gradations and excellent colour rendering. You also have access to the Multishot mode when maximum resolution is required, which offers up to 176 MP.
Focus on Every Moment
Especially in fast-paced situations, precision and trust in your equipment are essential. The Leica SL3-P is designed to deliver reliable autofocus performance when capturing movement. Its hybrid autofocus intelligently recognises and tracks subjects, even in dynamic scenes, by combining phase detection, depth mapping and contrast measurement. Up to 40 fps with full AF support, 819 phase-detection AF points and 5-axis image stabilisation combine to deliver high speed and precise image composition. Focus fully on your subject – so nothing stands in your way when capturing the decisive moment.
Designed for Ease of Use
A camera should feel intuitive right from the moment you first pick it up, not just when you’re getting started with a system, but at every stage of the creative process. The Leica SL3-P supports you here by providing a highly intuitive user interface offering immediate and clear access to settings – customisable and highly adaptable. You decide how to achieve your desired result as quickly as possible. Photo and video modes are clearly separated and colour-coded: red for photos and yellow for videos. The interface automatically adjusts to portrait and landscape orientation, including all touch functions. Everything remains legible and easy to operate.
Customisable Down to the Last Detail
A camera that adapts fully to your way of working allows you to follow your intuition. This is why the Leica SL3-P is fully customisable in terms of both its operating logic and hardware. Functions in the Control Centre can be arranged as you wish, dials can be assigned to frequently used settings, and setting wheels for photos and videos can be configured separately. The tilting LCD panel supports this principle further, allowing you to shoot from low angles, overhead or in confined spaces. Spending less time in the camera menu means you can focus more on your subject.
Video Production Characterised by Complete Flexibility
Classic 16:9 playback, vertical formats and slow motion. Modern video production demands flexibility as soon as you press record. The Leica SL3-P enables you to shoot video in up to 8K open gate in the native 3:2 format. This makes full use of the sensor possible, maintains a consistent view angle in photo mode and gives you significantly greater freedom when selecting your frame later on. For smooth motion, 5.9K at 60p and 4K at 120p are available. One camera. Every format. Your story, your way.
Consistent in Character
The Leica SL3-P is manufactured in Germany and designed for durability in terms of both technology and build quality. Built around a robust full-metal body, IP54 protection, continuous firmware updates and the L-Mount, it is a system designed to grow with your ambitions. Its minimalist design takes a deliberately understated approach to aesthetics, setting it apart from the crowd. Even without the red Leica logo, it remains unmistakably a Leica with its black control elements and confident design language – and thanks to its exceptional handling, you can experience it as such.
Efficient Workflow
The Leica SL3-P integrates seamlessly into your creative process, from shooting to post-production. It connects directly to smartphones and tablets via the Leica FOTOS App for remote control, fast data transfer, geotagging and firmware updates. Camera-to-Cloud with Adobe Frame.io, as well as native tethering for Capture One and Lightroom Classic, ensure efficient communication with the set, studio and post-production teams. Leica Looks presets enable you to achieve consistent image styles from the moment you start shooting. With Leica Content Credentials, your work remains uniquely yours even after capture. This technology verifies the origin and authorship of digital images, thereby enhancing transparency and trust in their authenticity.
The SL3-P Explained
Hybrid Autofocus and Subject Recognition
Hybrid means no compromises. The SL3-P uses a hybrid autofocus (AF) system that combines phase detection, contrast detection and depth mapping, and has 819 phase-detection AF points. AFs, AFc and Intelligent AF are available with the Spot, Field, Zone and Multi-field focusing methods. Tracking can be adjusted separately, and the fields and zones can be moved and scaled. Automatic subject recognition uses machine learning to detect people (eyes, face, body), animals and vehicles, as well as vehicle details, if desired. In continuous shooting mode, the camera can achieve up to 40 fps at 12-bit with continuous autofocus. Magnification and focus peaking are available to make manual focusing more convenient.
Electronic Viewfinder and Displays
Precision starts in the viewfinder. The SL3-P’s electronic viewfinder features an OLED display with a resolution of 5.76 million pixels, operating at either 60 or 120 fps. The viewfinder has a magnification of 0.76x in 3:2 format and provides 100 per cent field of view coverage. The optical glass eyepiece and virtually lag-free display provide an authentic image even during fast panning or when shooting moving subjects. The viewfinder is complemented by a 3.2-inch touchscreen monitor on the rear with 2.33 million pixels, and a top status display showing key parameters.
Leica L-Mount
A lens standard offering endless possibilities. The L-Mount, developed by Leica, is an open and future-proof bayonet standard for cameras and lenses from various partners in the L-Mount Alliance. Thanks to its clearly defined technical standards, the L-Mount offers an exceptionally large selection of compatible components. This gives you maximum flexibility when putting together your customised system.
Video Formats, Codecs and LUTs
For internal recording, MOV and MP4 are available in H.264 and H.265, as well as ProRes. Apple ProRes can be used for internal recording up to 5.8K. Internally, the camera offers either 8-bit or 10-bit recording, depending on the mode. It can output 10-bit signals via an HDMI 2.1 Type A port. The camera also supports HDMI RAW in 8K open gate. L-Log and HLG are available as image profiles, and Rec.709 and Rec.2020 colour spaces are supported. Leica Pure, Leica Cine and custom profiles can be used as LUTs for previewing and assessing the look, while False Colour supports exposure control directly in the image.
Interfaces and Storage Media
The SL3-P features both an SD card slot (UHS-II/UHS-I) and a CFexpress Type B slot. The CFexpress card is ideal for high data rates, extended burst shooting and demanding video formats. The SD card offers broad compatibility for everyday use. Connectivity options include HDMI 2.1 Type A and USB-C 3.1 Gen2, which provides up to 10 Gbit/s for tethering, data transfer and power supply. Furthermore, there is a 3.5 mm microphone input, a 3.5 mm headphone output and a sync/timecode socket. It also features an ISO accessory shoe and an interface for the multifunction handgrip. This allows for flexible integration into photo, video and studio setups. Ready for everything that matters – and whatever the future may bring.
