The Strengths of the 50 mm SL-Lens
When working with perspectives that come close to human vision, this lens provides particularly authentic results. The apochromatic design reliably prevents chromatic aberration. Even at a wide aperture, images are rich in contrast with clear contours and without colour fringing at the edges or luminous highlights. This results in exceptional detail and imaging performance, perfectly suited to high-resolution sensors. Thanks to an autofocus system with Dual Syncro Drive™, the APO-Summicron-SL 50 f/2 ASPH. works quietly, quickly and accurately. Precise positioning of focal planes is a matter of course even if the aperture is open all the way.
Design Details
The optical configuration includes 12 lenses in 10 groups, three of which are aspherical elements that correct spherical aberration. Many are made of specialised glass elements with anomalous partial dispersion to reduce chromatic aberration using the optics. The close focus distance of 35 cm facilitates detailed close-ups with reliable focusing performance. The lens is made of metal and protected against dust and splash water. Due to its stable construction, a replicable level of quality is guaranteed even after intensive use.
