My Father's Soil
An exhibition by Bobby Anwar

About the exhibition

This important photographic journey documents Bobby Anwar‘s father visiting Pakistan between 2021 and 2024, a country he left as a child in 1963 before finally settling in Denmark.

“My father left his home country of Pakistan when he was just a boy in 1963, embarking on an ambitious journey to ensure a better life for his family, future wife and children. At this time, Pakistan was a young country, formed in 1947 in the aftermath of the British Empire leaving India.

This marked the beginning of my father’s migration from Pakistan to Denmark, a long and dangerous passage by bus, train and car, crossing many countries along the way. Eventually he arrived in Dubai, where he stayed for a few years before the final leg of his journey brought him to Denmark, where he still lives today.

As my father grows older, documenting his heritage has become part of my story and I have accompanied him and my mother on their trips to Pakistan. This series is a visual diary of our travels, photographing his experiences and the soil he originated from.” – Bobby Anwar

The exhibition will run from 15 November 2024 to 31 March 2025.
