Light Reveals the Essential
Light reveals what is essential; appearances fade into the shadows. Conscious observation transforms chaos into order, and suddenly, with a “click”, the ephemeral becomes eternal and the foreign ceases to be so. In contrast to a fast-paced and overstimulated society, Joaquín Pastor chooses to photograph the streets calmly and devote the time each scene requires.
In this way, his photographs invite us to pause and offer a space of calm to those who contemplate them.
Joaquín photographs beyond the apparent, using light, contrast and composition to direct the gaze and create meaningful and striking images. Just as one must think before speaking, one must also do so when photographing. It is important to be selective and decide what to include or leave out of the frame.
I let the light guide me. I enjoy observing how light shapes the world we live in.
