Streets in Motion

  An Experimental Playground
Bobby Anwar explores the streets of Copenhagen in daylight and at night with the Leica M EV1. The city has been his experimental playground and the backdrop for his creativity with photography and the Leica M for nearly two decades. Street photography keeps Bobby inspired, never captivated by the polished or the perfect, it’s the movement and motion, fleeting moments and instances of solitude that allow him to capture his environment so vividly.
Working with images or photography in general is kind of an experimental playground - that moment is not going to come back and that's what I love about photography, especially street photography, these are the elements that make it exciting.

The Moment is Waiting
Bobby’s journey with photography started with the language of cinema which taught him the importance of framing a moment and understanding light, shadow and atmosphere. His photography leans into this, often depicting moody scenes with rain clinging to glass, neon cutting through darkness and silhouettes contrasting with cracks of sunlight. The Leica M has always been the tool that allows Bobby to transfer that cinematic language and vision into reality whilst also embracing the imperfection that goes hand in hand with street photography. Not capturing a moment is what makes the experience exciting to Bobby as the next shot is always waiting around the corner.
For me, photography with the Leica M has always been about distilling movement into stillness. About finding cinema in a single frame.

Bobby’s connection to the Leica M has remained for nearly twenty years and has become a true extension of his vision. With the Leica M EV1, the camera brings him closer to the moment whilst also making him faster and more precise – allowing creativity without limits. The presence of the EVF enables sharper vision when shooting but also keeps the soul and legacy of the Leica M alive. For Bobby, photography has never been about creating images alone, but about capturing memory, evoking feeling and finding that ‘cinematic moment’ in a single frame.
With the Leica M EV1 I move faster. At this point I'm at a stage in life where I can't always trust my vision and the EV1 lends me that helping hand, it lends me that extension of my vision without me stressing too much about if I got a shot or not.
